Abstract
This research article examines the history of the Yakut Committee of Public Security in Russian historiography. In March 1917, during the revolutionary transformations in Yakutsk, the Yakut Committee of Public Security (YAKOB) was established. It was a coalition democratic government body consisting of representatives of political parties and public organizations. The purpose of the scientific article is to study the stages of the history of the study of YAKOB in Russian historiography. The work is based on published sources: articles, monographs, generalizing works that examine the history of YAKOB. Historical-genetic, historical-comparative methods were used in the work on the topic. The history of YAKOB has been the subject of research in many works since the 1920s. The first works on this topic were written by participants in the events, describing the events of the revolution from the point of view of the Bolshevik Party. The assessments of YAKOB Em. Yaroslavsky formed the basis of Soviet historiography of the problem. Major works on the history of the revolutionary events of 1917 in the Yakutsk region were published in the late 1950s and early 1980s. These works analyzed the history of the YAKOB in accordance with the principles of the party-class approach. A reexamination of the history of the YAKOB began in the 1990s. Modern researchers in monographs and scholarly articles published over the past 20-25 years have provided new assessments of the history of the YAKOB. Over the years of studying the history of the YAKOB, researchers have achieved certain success in understanding various aspects of its activities, identifying its structure, main areas of activity, and personnel. However, certain aspects of the history of the YAKOB remain that require further study.
