Ensuring international legal standards for the observance of human and civil rights and freedoms in Russian criminal proceedings

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of key aspects directly related to the observance of human and civil rights and freedoms in Russian criminal proceedings. According to the author, their list provided for by the Constitution of the Russian Federation fully echoes the content of international legal acts in force in this area, and generally recognized principles, norms and international treaties of the Russian Federation directly related to rights and freedoms are taken into account by its criminal procedure legislation, which does not deny their priority and does not limit their effect. Against the background of the analysis of its normative provisions and the established judicial practice, the article describes in detail how the application of international legal principles, norms and treaties is currently taking place in criminal proceedings.
