To the Origin of Shamanism and the Ethnogenesis of the Sakha People in the Translation of the Article by Abdulkadir Inan “Tarihte şamanizm”

Abstract

The name of Abdulkadir Inan is well known to a professional audience engaged in the history of shamanism and the ethnogenesis of the Turkic peoples. For six decades of its scientific activities, the Turkish scholar has created fundamental works on history, ethnography, folklore, linguistics and literary criticism. He has written over 350 scientific articles. He was engaged in teaching. As a professor at Ankara University in 1955-1961, he taught Altai, Tuvinian, Khakass and Yakut languages. Of particular interest are his research in the field of pre-Islamic beliefs of the Turkic peoples of Russia, in particular, shamanism. Familiarity with the article of Abdulkadir Inan “Tarihte şamanizm” (“the Place of shamanism in history”), translated by the author, can help those who are engaged in the history of the spiritual life of the Turkic peoples in close conjunction with the issues of ethnogenesis of the Sakha people. From this work of the Turkish scientist, the author uses materials related only to the selected topic.
