Criminal law protection of personal data in the context of digitalization

Abstract
In the context of digital transformation and the concept of the widespread introduction of digital technologies, artificial intelligence in various spheres of life and production, the state should provide effective guarantees for the protection and safety of information. In such circumstances, the issue of criminalizing the illegal use and (or) transfer, collection and (or) storage of personal data, including biometric data, becomes especially relevant. The article evaluates the possibility of considering personal data as an independent object of criminal law protection, and also attempts to analyze the degree of protection from criminal encroachments from the point of view of current legislation.
